"61% of low-income families have no age-appropriate books in their homes for their children." www.heartofamerica.org
"The rate of children growing up with low literacy skills is a national problem. More than one million children drop out of school each year, costing the nation over $240 billion in lost earnings…and expenditures for social services." www.unitedway.org
